Interview with Cabin Mountain Living Center
SYMMETRY Neuro-Pathway Training has teamed up with Q&A Associates to begin SYMMETRY Neuro-PT to their three inspiring programs: Applewood Transitions, Journey WV and Cabin Mountain Living Center.
SYMMETRY features Cabin Mountain Living Center as this program was established to provide opportunities for young men and women with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other neuro-developmental disorders to achieve the highest levels of self-sufficiency possible, based on their individual capabilities.
Settled in Davis, West Virginia, Cabin Mountain Living Center provides a living environment in a safe and structured community setting where residents receive support and guidance from mentors, life coaches, and other staff members on a daily basis. Training and support are provided based on unique individual needs. The residents practice implementing life skills daily by going to work, managing their schedules, taking care of their households, caring for animals, etc. They also participate in community service projects and community-sponsored events. Four staff have been trained to provide SYMMETRY Neuro-PT, aka neurofeedback, to the residents and they have already noticed a difference in those participating. “I am very excited to include this opportunity to our current and incoming young adult clients,” said Angie Shockley, Founder, and CEO of Q&A Associates. “Most of our young adults are dealing with high levels of anxiety, so adding Neurofeedback to our program services allows them an additional option for calming the central nervous system and retraining the brain, creating the space and capacity to make better decisions – responding with thought, rather than reacting from emotion.”
